About Me

Tampa Bay's Manuel Margot, activated after spending 10 days on the injured list with a strained right hamstring, extended his hitting streak to 12 games with an infield single in the fourth. Right-hander Dusten Knight was optioned to Triple-A Durham. I will probably be in the minority here, but I don’t think Atlanta should bring back all of these outfielders.

ATLANTA -- — Seeing Sandy Alcantara for the second time in a week was of no benefit to the Atlanta Braves' hitters. Ya it’s been extremely weird for me to not be at the ballpark for this long. Not sure how my health will effect my ability to do so this season, but we’ll see.

If you never played and don’t have a clue, than I guess numbers are all you know. Soler has, on a half-year rental, given us basically the upper echelon of what we could have hoped for in year one of the Ozuna deal. I’d guess that Soler will want a better pillow contract than 1/$10, though, considering what we paid for guys like Donaldson and Ozuna. I personally see Soler in a better class than platoon guys like Duvall, whose sub-.300 career OBP sinks him as a starter, or Pederson, who just can’t hit southpaws. I don’t think Hernandez or the Marlins’ fifth starter in Jesus Luzardo would have gotten the deal done and including Rogers might have been a tough sell for Miami given he has five more years of contract control. In his second start since being promoted from Triple-A Jacksonville last week, Cabrera (2-0) limited Washington to two hits, walked two, struck out four and hit a batter.

Andrelton Simmons pulled one run back with a base hit later in the second inning, and that would be the last run Musgrove gave up, holding the Cubs scoreless for the next five innings. While Musgrove finished with a great game, it was a rough beginning, with Christopher Morel hitting a home run from the Cubs' first at-bat of the game. Soler has 121 home runs and 343 RBIs in 661 career MLB games with the Royals, Braves and Chicago Cubs.

Garrett Cooper's two-out walk loaded the bases, and Poche struck out Aguilar on a 94.9 mph pitch for his third big league save, his first since Sept. 23, 2019. I think the Braves need to bring back at least 2 of the OFs, and with the DH you can argue they need to bring back 3. Drew Waters has shown that he’s not ready so the team has a hole in LF. And I’m sure the team doesn’t want to rush Acuna back in RF.

He’s just getting to that point where he’s understanding how to use his weapons and just able to handle this better," Mattingly said. Baseball America includes Swanson, Olivera, Blair, left-hander Sean Newcomb, shortstop Ozzie Albies and left-hander Kolby Allard in its list of top 100 prospects. Swanson hasn't played above Class A, but the former Vanderbilt standout already is projected to be the Braves' starter by 2017, when the team will move into its new SunTrust Park. It helps that Swanson is a local kid from Marietta High School.

"I couldn't be happier on behalf of myself and all the ownership of the entire team to give Donnie and the entire organization a player of this caliber," Marlins owner Bruce Sherman said. Now, Erik Spoelstra and the Heat front office will have to figure out ways to improve the team’s roster to better its chances of getting over the hump next season. In Miami, an NBA season is not considered a success unless it ends with a championship. To say the beginning of García's tenure hasn't gone swimmingly would be an understatement.

When we got him, I was thinking de la Cruz starts and DeShields was a late-inning CF replacement. Either Bryan de la Cruz or Lewin Diaz are very likely to be blocked as a domino effect, we still don’t have a true CF, have yet to get a legit Closer, and we’re still stuck with Anthony Bass. Rays get a good RH’ed bat they have been looking for to play COF./1st base/DH.. Jeter wanted Castellanos, and Castellanos wanted to come to the Marlins. I wouldn’t even be surprised if Castellanos had been willing to take a few million less to sign with them instead of the Phillies. They committed basically the same amount of money to Soler/Garcia as Castellanos got, so I guess it comes down to whether you think those two are more valuable than Castellanos alone.
